Evacuation orders lifted after fire burns south of Colorado Springs

Evacuation orders that were issued due to a fire burning south of Colorado Springs Sunday have been lifted. 

The fire burned about three acres west of Highway 115 and south of Cheyenne Mountain State Park. 

El Paso County is calling this fire the Pawnee Fire.

Residents of Rock Creek Mesa were under a mandatory evacuation order starting at 2:30 p.m. The evacuation order was lifted several hours later. 

Smoke from the fire was visible throughout the city. 

No injuries were reported, and no homes were lost. The cause of the fire is still under investigation, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office.
