Alcohol and speed were factors in a crash that seriously injured a driver in northeastern Colorado Springs Tuesday evening, according to police.
Police said the crash happened around 8 p.m. on the North Nevada Avenue frontage road just west of Pulpit Rock Park. An Acura sedan was headed southbound when the driver lost control. The car went off the road, hit two power poles, and overturned, coming to rest on its side.
Police said the driver had to be extricated from the car. The driver was hospitalized with serious injuries but is expected to survive.
Police said alcohol and excessive speed are considered factors in the crash.
The frontage road was closed briefly while utility workers dealt with the downed power poles.
