A Denver-based restaurant now sharing a ‘pizza’ its heart with Colorado Springs.
Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta has recently opened its first Colorado Springs location on Interquest Parkway. Founded in 1984 with a single downtown Denver storefront, Anthony’s Pizza & Pasta now has more than 20 restaurants, but this is the first location in southern Colorado.
President and CEO John LeBel said, “One part of the way Anthony’s is, and even pizza itself is about neighborhoods and it’s just parochial that way. I think this was really right for a brand like ours to come down here and just put some shops in neighborhoods and areas that are not only thriving but are sort of regenerating themselves as well.”
The franchisee of this location, Mick Cheshire, also owns several other businesses in Colorado Springs and hopes to expand to other locations in the near future.
“This whole area has been really booming so it seemed like a good location,” said Cheshire.
Anthony’s menu includes a massive 18-inch New York style pizzas, several pasta options, desserts and salads.
“If you see somebody eating it with a knife and a fork, shame on them,” said Tommy Ligotti.
Ligotti, a New Yorker himself, now lives in Black Forest.
“I’m an avid pizza lover and I used to actually drive out of my way up to Castle Rock to their other location about 45 minutes to get good New York authentic pizza,” said Ligotti.
He’s already been to Anthony’s ten times in the eight weeks it’s been open.
Ligotti said, “It’s the sauce and people don’t like it but good pizza actually has a drip of oil that comes off of it and this is pretty oily when it drips and then you kind of get to the crust and you dip the crust in the oil.”
