Colorado Springs woman collecting suitcases for foster children

Local

A Colorado Springs woman is asking for your help to provide children in foster care with basic needs.

Cases of Love is an organization that helps kids in foster care, providing them with luggage and personal care items. Founder Becky Wyzykowski said kids in foster care travel through the system with their belongings in trash bags. Her solution is to provide kids with suitcases, backpacks, duffel bags, and more.

“When you walk through the system with your belongings in a trash bag, it doesn’t give you a sense of self or dignity,” Wyzykowski said. “Your things are in garbage bags, you feel like you have no self-worth.”

Wyzykowski said she’ll be at Nordstrom Rack each Saturday in May from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. She’s looking for donations of new or gently used luggage for kids of all ages.
