Colorado Springs tattoo shop helps give back this holiday season

The most wonderful time of the year is officially here, and getting inked is the new giving. The Ink Gallery located at Chapel Hills Mall and the Citadel Mall is taking part in Toys4Tatts.

“We’re going to collect toys and distribute them,” owner Cris Valle said.

This is the first time the Ink Gallery is taking part in the drive. Anyone can come in and bring an unwrapped toy valued at $20 before tax or higher and receive a tattoo valued at $60 or less for free. If the tattoo is valued at $100 or more, folks receive $80 off the total.

So far, the shop has received dozens of toy donations at its two locations.

They may not be your typical elves, but the Ink Gallery crew has made Santa’s life a whole lot easier.

“It’s a wonderful thing,” Saint Nick said. “It’s less toys that I have to build. The key is helping out children so they can get a toy.”

Families are welcome to sign up at the drive’s website, Toys4Tatts. Distribution takes place December 21-22.

“It’s the least expected place,” Valle said. “But if they actually got to know a lot of the people that tattoo and pierce for a living, they’d be surprised with how giving we are.”
