Colorado Springs Queer Prom aims to help teens feel included

Local

Inside/Out Youth Services hosted a Queer Prom Friday night.

The theme was A Masquerade.

The queer prom was for young lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, and questioning allied people ages 13 to 22. It was aimed at helping teens who may have felt or currently feel outcasted because of their sexuality.

Inside/Out encouraged those who attended to be who they are and express themselves as they are.

The organization focuses on supporting the Colorado Springs LGBTIQ+ community.

Prior to the prom, Inside/Out allowed those attending to pick up prom attire from their clothing closet, so those who didn’t want to buy new outfits or couldn’t afford them had something to wear. They also took donations from the community to help supply the closet.

Some co-sponsors for the event were Palmer GSTA, Z-Luxe Photography, Pepsi, Concrete Couch, and Quintessential Events.
