Local leaders got a behind-the-scenes look Thursday at what goes into keeping our community safe.
Leadership Pikes Peak held its signature program in which members learn how they can become active citizens. Each day focuses on something different. Thursday, they zeroed in on public service.
Local realtors, lawyers, CEOs, and financial planners spent the day learning about city utilities, police, and fire–and even got the opportunity to take a walk in their shoes.
“It’s incredible because, especially to this day, the students and participants actually get to participate in what CSFD and PD does every day, that hopefully most of us are never involved in, and probably never be involved in,” Leadership Pikes Peak program manager Keith Willschau said. “So we get a greater appreciation and understanding of what they do, so we can support them as a community member and really be an active champion whenever they need us for something.”
The program through Leadership Pikes Peak is 10 months long, and is open to managers and executives.
