Key Clubs from Manitou Springs, Coronado, Woodland Park, Falcon, Cripple Creek, and Palmer Ridge high schools held a Walk for Water at America the Beautiful Park Sunday morning.
It was part of the Thirst Project, a water activism organization. The group walked 3.75 miles, which is how far people in some African villages have to walk to get water–and they say oftentimes, it’s not even clean.
“Knowing that the community knows that there’s a problem and that they can help it, and make this world better for all of us, is what is really important for them to know,” participant Allie Robbins said.
Their goal was to raise $12,000 to build a fresh water well in Eswatini.
