The main parking area at Garden of the Gods will look a little different after this summer, as the city is adding a new gathering area, overlook, and restroom facility to the lot.
Construction on the project kicks off Tuesday. The project will increase the number of restrooms in the main lot from four to 13. It’ll also add an elevated overlook and gathering area on top of the restroom building.
The city expects construction to last through the summer.
The $1.2 million project is paid for by the Garden of the Gods Foundation and by city taxes, including the Trails, Open Space and Parks Tax and the Lodgers and Automobile Rental Tax.
