Care and Share Food Bank is joining forces with local leaders, other nonprofits and healthcare providers in what they are calling the Colorado Blueprint to End Hunger.
Care and Share serves nearly 150,000 people in our community.
They said in Colorado, 1 in 5 kids does not know where their next meal will come from. Studies show hunger impacts a kid’s development, education, mental health, and other aspects of life.
By Care and Share partnering with others, they feel their success will increase.
“We know as food bankers, we are experts at getting food into our distribution center, and then immediately getting out to people need it. When it comes to mental health and physical health, and making sure kids are making able to concentrate in schools, that’s where different organizations come in. If we want to end hunger we know that collaboration is key and that’s what makes this blueprint so exciting,” said Joanna Wise, Marketing and Communications Director of Care and Share Food Bank for Southern Colorado.
Governor Hickenlooper endorsed the project and Care and Share said they welcome other local leaders to support the blueprint.
