“Black Klansman” Ron Stallworth speaks at PPCC

The man who inspired a Hollywood hit came to town Thursday to share his unique life experiences.

Ron Stallworth is a former Colorado Springs police officer who infiltrated the Ku Klux Klan in the area. Filmmaker Spike Lee told his story on the big screen in this summer’s film “The BlacKkKlansman.”

Stallworth was at Pikes Peak Community College Thursday morning to talk to students about the value of his education from the school.

“It was awesome, honestly,” student Victoria Reyes said. “It was really inspiring. It was amazing how he went through struggles with being black in a very racial time period, and just being able to overcome that, it gives me a lot of confidence that no matter what gets in your way society-wise, you can still overcome them if you care enough about it.”

Stallworth also held a meet-and-greet autograph session with the students.

PPCC is celebrating its 50th anniversary by bringing in alumni to share their experiences at the school and in life.
