Thirty-two names of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty are now etched into the Pikes Peak Region Peace Officers Memorial.
Friday, those men and women who have made the ultimate sacrifice were honored.
The most recent name to be etched into the memorial was fallen El Paso County Sheriff’s Deputy Micah Flick.
His widow, Rachael Flick, was the keynote speaker at the ceremony.
“These are the real superheroes who put on the uniform every day, and sacrifice their free time and their energy, their rest and their sleep and their holidays to protect us,” Flick said.
Flick’s family thanked the community for their support.
“Going from the hospital to the funeral home, and how that was so honoring, because the community just turned out and were very supportive, held flags and waving and having their hands over their heart, being very respectful,” father Tim Flick said.
