Sunday was the 24th annual Pikes Peak Food, Wine and Beer Expo. This year’s theme was The Taste of Pikes Peak.
More than 80 local restaurants and vendors showcased their best dishes and drinks at the all-you-can-eat-and-drink event at the Broadmoor World Arena.
Robert Burnet, also known as Chef BB at Momma Pearl’s Cajun Kitchen, said this event is for natives and newcomers.
“It’s really a great way for new people who come to town to get a feel for the restaurants that are available and the foodie situation,” Burnet said. “We have new restaurants opening up every day here in Colorado, in Colorado Springs. It’s a great way, if you’ve been here for a while, you get to try different restaurants that you hadn’t even thought about going to visit yet. But it’s also about building community, supporting the restaurant industry.”
The proceeds from the event go to the Marian House soup kitchen and the ProStart culinary program.
Chef BB said if you missed the event Sunday, you can always support the cause by visiting local mom-and-pop restaurants.
