Despite polls showing Polis in the lead, Stapleton remains optimistic

Election

Top Republicans came out to Pueblo on Thursday to show their support for gubernatorial candidate Walker Stapleton.

“Walker Stapleton believes in every part of Colorado,” U.S. Sen. Cory Gardner said. “I think sometimes Denver and Boulder seem to get more than their fair share of attention. Pueblo, southern Colorado, eastern Colorado, western Colorado, this is about the entire state.”

President Donald Trump tweeted his support for Stapleton, saying:

“Walker Stapleton will be an extraordinary Governor for the State of Colorado. He is strong, smart, and has been successful at everything he has ever done. His opponent, Jared Polis, is weak on crime and weak on borders – could never do the job. Get out and VOTE – Walker has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”

“This is not someone who is a John Hickenlooper type-Democrat,” Stapleton said. “This is a radical, extreme departure from Hickenlooper. This is someone who Hickenlooper has called his energy policy really radical.”

Multiple polls show Jared Polis is in the lead, but despite the numbers, Stapleton is confident he will be Colorado’s next governor.

“Polls don’t vote, people vote, and I’m happy to be in Pueblo where the Pueblo Chieftain endorsed our vision for Colorado future and recognized the jobs that Polis would cause in the energy industry and the healthcare industry,” Stapleton said.

Polis will be at the Relevant Word Christian Cultural Center in Colorado Springs on Friday.
