Police: Resident shoots at two people breaking into Colorado Springs home


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (July 20) — Police are investigating after a man shot at two people who broke through the door of his home north of downtown Colorado Springs Tuesday evening.

Police said it happened around 9:20 p.m. at a home on North Nevada Avenue near the intersection with San Miguel Street, just north of Colorado College. The victim told police two people had tried to break into his home. The victim armed himself, and when the suspects broke through the door, he fired shots at them, according to police.

UPDATE (July 22): Police found and apprehended one of the suspects Thursday morning. He was taken to the hospital to be treated for apparent gunshot wounds, then jailed on robbery charges, according to police.
