COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — The holidays are here and the clock is ticking for those of you who’d like to send care packages to those in the military serving overseas.
United States Postal Service says gifts should be shipped no later than Friday, December 9 for the best rates.
If your package is being shipped internationally, USPS recommends shipping by December 10.

December 9: Priority Mail Packages
December 9: First Class Cards and Letter
December 16: Priority Mail Express Military ServiceINTERNATIONAL
December 10: Priority Mail International
December 15: Express International
December 21: Global Express Guaranteed

The Postal Service offers a discounted price of $16.75 on its largest Priority Mail Flat Rate Box if you’re sending packages to loved ones serving in the military overseas. That price includes a $2 per box discount for mail sent to APO/FPO/DPO destinations worldwide.
The Postal Service also has a free Military Care Kit based on the items most frequently requested by military families. The kit contains address labels, tape, boxes and customs forms. You can order the kit by calling 1-800-610-8734 and select “Supplies.”
Don’t forget that you can also print your shipping labels, pay for postage and call for your letter carrier to pick up your Priority or Priority Express packages at your home or business for free (select locations available).
