COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A woman is facing attempted murder charges after she repeatedly rammed her minivan into a home Thursday afternoon, according to police.
Police said the incident happened around 4:50 p.m. in the 1400-block of Crestone Avenue, which is near Motor City. The woman, later identified as 56-year-old Carol Gallegos, repeatedly rammed her minivan into the walls of a home, causing extensive damage. A 24-year-old woman and her two small children were inside at the time. The woman was able to get her children out of the home before the wall collapsed right next to where the children had been sitting.
Police said Gallegos left the scene, and about 40 minutes later, she ran a red light at the intersection of South 21st Street and West Cimarron Street, causing a four-car accident. Gallegos was then arrested.
Gallegos is charged with felony criminal mischief and three counts of attempted first-degree murder for ramming the van into the home. For the traffic crash, she is charged with DUI, driving under restraint, no proof of insurance, and red light violation.
