Two people were arrested on DUI charges after a crash in southwestern Colorado Springs Wednesday evening, according to police.
The crash happened around 5:15 p.m. on Highway 115 near the intersection with Southgate Road. Police said a pickup truck was headed northbound when it rear-ended a Nissan Versa that was also headed northbound. The crash caused the Nissan to go over the median and across the southbound lanes. The driver sustained serious injuries.
The driver of the pickup, 64-year-old Gary Roth of Manitou Springs, was arrested on charges of DUI and vehicular assault.
While officers were investigating the crash, another driver drove past the barricades, but stopped before hitting anything or anyone, according to police. That driver was also arrested for DUI.
The highway was closed for about five hours while police investigated the crash.
