A Falcon High School student is facing criminal charges after a Safe2Tell tip accused him of bringing a gun to school last week, according to District 49 officials.

Joel Ramsey is charged with second-degree burglary, theft, criminal mischief, and unlawfully carrying a concealed weapon, according to the El Paso County Sheriff’s Office. District security learned about the alleged incident through a Safe2Tell notification posted after school Thursday, according to the district. Ramsey was not at school Friday, and was arrested after a law enforcement investigation.

“Although he did not make any specific threats against the school or any person, Ramsey’s actions are extremely serious and both school and law enforcement officials are responding diligently and appropriately,” the district said in a message to families.

Ramsey is currently prohibited from being present at any school or district property or function.
