Police have arrested a son for the murder of his mother after she was found dead in a southeastern Colorado Springs apartment Friday morning.
Police said Judy Smith, 48, was found around 9:40 a.m. in an apartment on South Chelton Road just west of Jet Wing Drive after maintenance crews entered her home.
An autopsy confirmed manner of death as homicide, the 27th this year.
Detectives later arrested Smith’s son, Lake Smith, 24, for charges of first-degree murder.
Police noted that this is an on-going investigation.
