Shoplifting suspect accused of threatening store employees with handgun

A man who tried to shoplift from a Colorado Springs store Tuesday was arrested after threatening employees with a handgun, according to police. 

Police said it happened around 5:30 p.m. Tuesday at an unspecified store on Academy Boulevard just north of Union Boulevard. The store’s loss prevention officers told police they had tried to stop a man who left the store without paying for merchandise. When they stopped him, he pulled out a handgun, according to the victims. 

The suspect, 31-year-old Kristoffer Grier, left the scene, but police found and arrested him a short time later. 

Police said no one was injured in the incident.
