Seven arrests, girl shot, officer hurt in multiple incidents in Colorado Springs

Crime

Five people were arrested and one police officer was injured following a string of carjackings and robberies in multiple incidents that were connected overnight Sunday.

There were two robberies on Saturday night and a carjacking Sunday.

According to Lt. Howard Black, CSPD officers saw the suspects and tried to pull over multiple cars. However, the suspects got out of their cars and ran. During the chase, one officer fell into a ditch and had minor injuries.

Three more suspects escaped through the sewer lines and popped out of a manhole cover, but police saw them and arrested them.

There were also two other people taken into custody during this chase, but they were not involved in the carjackings or robberies. They were discovered when police were looking for the carjacking suspects. When the men saw the officers, they ran away, according to police. Police chased them, thinking they were involved in the carjackings, but it turned out both had warrants and one of them was a felon.

About 30 minutes later, a girl showed up at the hospital with a gunshot wound. Detectives are trying to figure out how she was shot.
