A robbery suspect was arrested after running a red light and causing a crash in southern Colorado Springs Wednesday morning, according to police.

Police said around 11:15 a.m. Wednesday, officers were in the area of East Fountain Boulevard and South Chelton Road when they spotted a Jeep that was wanted in connection with several recent personal robberies. Before officers could stop the Jeep, it ran a red light, hitting two other cars in the intersection.

The driver of the Jeep got out and ran, but was arrested after a short chase, according to police. The driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

The two other drivers involved in the crash both sustained minor injuries.

Police said the Jeep had been reported stolen out of Colorado Springs, and had a stolen license plate.

The suspect’s name has not yet been released.
