COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A robbery suspect was arrested after leading police on a chase in southern Colorado Springs Wednesday night.
Police said around 11 p.m., they got a call about a robbery on East Cheyenne Road. The caller said the robber had fired several shots from a handgun.
An officer went to the area and saw the suspect vehicle, a gold Cadillac, driving away. He tried to pull the car over, but the driver refused to stop. Police eventually stopped the car on Highway 115 near Star Ranch Road.
Police said five people were in the Cadillac. One of them, 21-year-old Artura Velasquez, was arrested on aggravated robbery charges. Another, 21-year-old John Leigh, was arrested on an unrelated warrant for attempted homicide. Police are still investigating to determine if the other three will face charges.
