A Pueblo County man has been arrested after he ran over his grandmother while stealing a pickup truck Thursday morning, according to the sheriff’s office.

Deputies said it happened in the area of 27th Lane and County Farm Road, which is southeast of Pueblo. Deputies said the suspect, 18-year-old Fabian Quintana, was trying to steal a pickup truck. His grandma tried removing the keys to stop him from driving away, but he put the truck into reverse, knocking her down. He then put the truck in drive and sped away, running her over.

The victim is being treated at the hospital. There’s no word on her condition.

Deputies spotted the truck in the city and tried to pull it over, but Quintana crashed it, backed up toward a deputy, and then sped away.

Quintana was arrested Thursday night on a warrant for vehicular assault, vehicular eluding, aggravated motor vehicle theft, and reckless driving.
