The woman who was found dead in a car parked at a Colorado Springs Walmart Thursday morning was killed about 50 miles away in Park County, according to police.
Police said just before 3:30 a.m. Thursday, they got a call from a suspect admitting to killing someone. When they arrived at the Walmart on 8th Street in western Colorado Springs, they found a woman shot dead in a car. The victim was identified as Amy Shrieves, 21, of Colorado Springs.
The police investigation revealed Shrieves had actually been killed in the area of Eleven Mile State Park, which is about 50 miles west of Colorado Springs.
The suspect, 20-year-old Joshua Thomsen of Colorado Springs, was detained at the Walmart. Police said Shrieves and Thomsen knew each other, but did not specify how.
Thomsen is charged with first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, and tampering with a deceased human body. He is being held in the Park County jail without bond.
