Police notifying public about homeless sexually violent predator in Colorado Springs

Police are notifying the public about a homeless sexually violent predator who recently moved back to Colorado Springs.

Police said Jerrell Evans, 36, stays in the area of Murray Boulevard and Platte Avenue. He previously lived in Security-Widefield

Evans is described as a black man, about 6 feet tall and 215 pounds, with hazel eyes and a shaved head. He has tattoos on his chest, lower arms, and upper left arm. 

Police said Evans works as a newspaper carrier. He drives a silver 2017 Dodge Ram 1500. 

Evans was convicted of attempted sexual assault in El Paso County in 2001. Police said the victim was a 17-year-old girl, and he threatened her and her family. 

Evans has also been convicted of felony menacing in 2000, attempted drug possession in 2001, and escape in 2007.

Sexually violent predators are considered the highest-risk sex offenders. Law enforcement is required to notify the public when a person who has been categorized as a sexually violent predator moves to a different address.

Evans is one of 16 sexually violent predators currently living in Colorado Springs, and one of four who is homeless.
