Police find three homemade incendiary devices in stolen car in northern Colorado Springs

A man is facing multiple charges after police found him behind the wheel of a stolen car with three homemade incendiary devices inside Tuesday afternoon, according to police. 

Police said around 3:30 p.m., they got a call about a suspicious car parked in the neighborhood southeast of Austin Bluffs Parkway and Research Parkway. The person behind the wheel appeared to be under the influence of an intoxicant, according to police. He was taken to the hospital, where he was treated and released. 

Officers searched the car and found three homemade incendiary devices inside. The bomb squad was called out to make them safe for disposal. Police also discovered the car had been reported stolen, and returned it to its owner. 

The suspect, 21-year-old Christopher Gibson, was jailed on charges of motor vehicle theft and criminal mischief.
