A man was arrested on multiple charges after he stole a car and then abandoned it in the parking lot of a Motor City car dealership, according to police.
Police said around 1:30 p.m. Monday, an officer went to the dealership on Motor City Drive to recover a stolen car that had been left abandoned in the parking lot. While processing the car, the officer saw a suspicious man nearby. He called for more officers, and when they arrived, the man ran away. Officers tracked the suspect to a building at one of the dealerships.
The suspect, 40-year-old David Porterfield, surrendered to police a short time later. He was jailed on multiple felony warrants, including one for motor vehicle theft.
Porterfield was arrested for breaking into cars in the same area in January, according to previous reports.
