COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A pedestrian sustained serious injures when he was hit by a vehicle while walking in a crosswalk Thursday morning, according to police.

Police said the incident happened around 8:40 a.m. at the intersection of Lelaray Street and Union Boulevard. The driver of a Jeep Commander was making a left turn and failed to yield the right of way to the pedestrian, who was in the crosswalk, according to police.

The victim, a 65-year-old man, was hospitalized for a serious neck fracture. He is in stable condition.

The driver was cited for failure to yield right of way to a pedestrian.
