Old Colorado City reopens after standoff situation ends

The portion of Old Colorado City that was evacuated due to an hourslong standoff Wednesday morning has reopened. 

The standoff started around 4:30 a.m. in a bungalow-style building in Old Colorado City. Colorado Avenue was closed between 26th Street and 28th Street, and all of the businesses in the area were evacuated. The area reopened around 9 a.m. 

Police said the barricaded man died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound just after 8 a.m. No one else was injured. Police said the man who died was a tenant of the building.
