Police are asking for the public’s help finding a man who is wanted in connection with multiple crimes in Colorado and Oregon.
Police said the suspect, 27-year-old Juan De La Vega-King, had been staying with acquaintances at their home in Monument. The residents called police when they realized De La Vega-King had been stealing from them. One of the things he took was a prescription bottle of Vicodin, according to police.
Police investigated and found De La Vega-King was in possession of several items, including two guns, that had been stolen in a burglary in Oregon. He was also in possession of two ballistic body armor vests, according to police. Officers recovered one, but they believe he still has the other.
De La Vega-King is a convicted felon, which means it’s illegal for him to have guns or body armor, according to police.
De La Vega-King is wanted on a warrant for possession of weapons by a previous offender, unlawful possession of a controlled substance, theft, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
He is described as a white man, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and 150 pounds, with brown hair, brown eyes, and a nose ring. A recent photo shows some of his hair dyed blonde.
He was last seen driving a tan or silver 2000 Nissan Frontier extra-cab pickup with Oregon license plate number HHVR. It was last seen with a black camper shell that may have two large dinosaur stickers on the back window.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call police at 719-481-3253.
