Man shoplifts from Colorado Springs convenience store, assaults clerk

Police are looking for the man who shoplifted from a central Colorado Springs convenience store and assaulted the clerk early Saturday morning. 

Police said the robbery happened around 1:10 a.m. at the 7-Eleven at Academy Boulevard and North Carefree Circle. The robber took a cell phone charger and tried to leave without paying, according to police. When a clerk confronted him, the robber assaulted him, then left. Police said the clerk sustained a cut above his right eye. 

The suspect was described as a man in his mid-20s, about six feet tall and heavyset. He was wearing a Broncos coat and dark jeans.
