A man who pled guilty to manslaughter after a 7-year-old boy fell to his death in Cheyenne Cañon last March has been sentenced.

Kyle Clayton McClain was sentenced on Wednesday to 12 years in prison for reckless manslaughter, according to the 4th Judicial District Attorney’s Office.

McClain was charged in the March 2017 death of 7-year-old Kaivion Eleby, who fell about 100 feet during a hike with family near Gold Camp Road on March 17, 2017. Prosecutors said the grand jury found the area where the death occurred presented an “obvious and apparent danger.” They also found alcohol was a factor in the incident, according to prosecutors.
