Man arrested on drug, weapons charges in Colorado Springs traffic stop


COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — A man was arrested on drug and weapons charges after he was pulled over on Academy Boulevard Wednesday night.

Around 9:20 p.m., officers pulled the car over on Academy Boulevard near Pikes Peak Avenue. While talking to the driver, they noticed drug paraphernalia in plain view. Police learned the driver, 34-year-old Ricky Hinojosa, was a convicted felon. They searched Hinojosa and his car and found a loaded gun, 3.4 grams of mushrooms and 1 gram of meth.

Hinojosa was jailed on charges of unlawful possession of a controlled substance and possession of weapons by a previous offender.
