A man has been arrested in connection with a robbery at a Falcon Big R store earlier this week, according to police.

The robbery happened around 6 a.m. Sunday at the Big R on Highway 24 at Stapleton Road in Falcon. The robber broke into the store, smashed a locked gun case, and stole 13 handguns, according to investigators. Investigators released surveillance video Thursday and asked the public to be on the lookout for the suspect.

Around 6 p.m. Thursday, police went to Gahart Drive, which is in the area of Murray Boulevard and Airport Road in southeastern Colorado Springs, to conduct an investigation related to the burglary. When officers approached the car the suspect was driving, the suspect backed the car through a fence and onto Airport Road, where it collided with a car headed westbound on Airport Road, according to police.

The suspect was arrested without further incident. No one was injured in the crash, but a woman was taken to the hospital for observation, according to police. Airport Road was closed in both directions for about two hours while police investigated.

Due to the ongoing investigation, police are not releasing the suspect’s name.
