A man has been arrested in connection with a hit-and-run crash that seriously injured a motorcyclist in central Colorado Springs last month.
The crash happened around 7:30 a.m. April 8 at the intersection of Fillmore Street and Cascade Avenue. Police said an RV was trying to turn left from westbound Fillmore onto southbound Cascade. The driver turned in front of a motorcycle that was headed eastbound, causing the crash.
The motorcyclist was hospitalized with serious injuries.
Police said the RV left the scene before officers arrived. Officers found it unoccupied several blocks away. They identified the driver as Brian Abeyta, 39, of Colorado Springs. Abeyta was arrested Tuesday, according to police. He is charged with leaving the scene of an accident involving serious bodily injuries, which is a felony.
