A man is facing charges after he shot at his son and then barricaded himself inside his house in Pueblo Monday afternoon, according to police.
Police said around 1 p.m., they got a call about shots fired on East First Street. When officers arrived, they learned the suspect, 56-year-old Benjamin Sandoval, had fired a handgun at his 30-year-old son, according to police. The son and another family member had come outside, but Sandoval was still inside the home and refused to come out. SWAT officers negotiated with him, and he surrendered without further incident around 1:45 p.m., according to police.
Police found a gun in the home and recovered a bullet from an interior wall.
Sandoval is charged with attempted second-degree murder, violation of a restraining order, menacing, and domestic violence.
