Man accused of posting offensive signs near downtown church

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Police have arrested a man they say posted signs containing offensive comments near a downtown church.

Police said on June 21, they received a complaint about signs posted near a church in the 200-block of East Platte Avenue. The signs contained offensive comments, according to police. Police investigated and learned similar signs had also been posted the previous weekend at the church.

Then, Tuesday, officers were notified about a man actively posting signs downtown. Officers contacted the man, 44-year-old Vincent Broughton of Colorado Springs, and arrested him on charges of bias motivated crime, disorderly conduct, harassment, and littering. He was served and released on a summons to appear in court.
