Man accused of holding family in Colorado Springs motel against their will

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - A man who was wanted in Texas has been arrested after holding his child and other family members in a Colorado Springs motel against their will, according to the El Paso County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies said on Wednesday, they learned Johnathan Young, 56, had taken his child out of a Texas hospital against medical advice. The Texas Department of Family and Protective Services believed Young was holding the child and other family members against their will at the Value Inn in the area of Highway 24 and Peterson Road. Deputies went to the motel and arrested Young without incident. The child was safe and unharmed. The other family members were taken to the hospital for evaluation, according to deputies.

Young is accused of felony fugitive from justice, assault, harassment, and child abuse. He also had an outstanding warrant out of Texas for assault. Deputies said more charges are pending.
