FOUNTAIN, Colo. — Police are looking for the person or people who broke into dozens of cars in Fountain.

Police said there have been 56 vehicle break-ins since October 3. Most of the incidents took place between midnight and 5 a.m. Police believe the suspect or suspects live in the Fountain area, and are between the ages of 15 and 25.

Anyone with information on these crimes is asked to call Fountain police at 719-382-8555, or Crime Stoppers at 719-634-7867 (STOP).

Police remind residents that vehicle break-ins are primarily crimes of opportunity, and the suspects are usually walking the streets randomly checking for unlocked vehicles. They’re usually looking for purses, wallets, cash, firearms, computers, cell phones, and other electronics. Remember to lock your vehicles and remove any valuables from them.

Police recommend you record the serial numbers and model numbers of your possessions, so police can more easily track your property if it’s ever stolen.
