Former Colorado camp counselor sentenced for producing child porn

DENVER - A man who once worked as a camp counselor in Colorado has been sentenced to federal prison for producing child pornography, according to the U.S. Attorney's Office in Denver.

Prosecutors said Alexander Perez, 22, was sentenced Thursday to 20 years in federal prison, followed by 20 years on supervised release.

Prosecutors said in May 2017, investigators found several images of someone sexually exploiting a boy. The images were posted on an internet bulletin board on the Tor network.

Investigators found a photo of Perez that was taken with the same camera used to take the pornographic images. They matched this photo with photos on Perez's social media accounts. On one of his Facebook accounts, Perez said he had been a summer camp counselor in Colorado. Investigators searched the camp and found the digital camera used to take the photos, along with a laptop and an iPhone belonging to Perez.

The investigators found that Perez both photographed and live-streamed his sexual abuse of the boy. The abuse happened from December 2014 to January 2015.
