Explosive device found in Fountain confirmed to be real ‘Claymore’ mine

Fountain police say an explosive device brought into the police department by a citizen Saturday night has been determined to be a real “Claymore” mine. 

Fort Carson Military Police has assumed the investigation.

Police say officers searched the area where the device was found and no other explosive or suspicious devices were located. 

There were no reported injuries. 

Police are reminding the public that if you see a suspicious device or a suspected explosive device, do not pick it up or touch it. Stay away from the device and contact your local law enforcement as soon as possible.
