A driver is facing child abuse charges after multiple children were injured in a crash in Colorado Springs Sunday evening.
The crash happened around 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of Constitution Avenue and Chelton Road. Police said Constanzia Santistevan, 34, was turning left from Constitution Avenue onto Chelton Road when she failed to yield to a car that was headed eastbound.
Police said there were several children in Santistevan’s car who were not properly restrained. One of the children sustained broken ribs, and another had a broken collarbone. Police said none of their injuries are considered life-threatening.
Santistevan was arrested on felony child abuse charges, as well as a minor traffic infraction for vehicles turning left. Police said alcohol and speed were not factors in the crash.
