A woman is facing animal neglect charges after deputies seized two horses from a property in Ellicott Tuesday, according to the sheriff’s office.
Deputies went to the property on McDaniels Road as part of an ongoing animal neglect investigation, according to the sheriff’s office. They seized two horses that were suffering from lack of care and malnourishment. One of the horses had severely split front hooves and required veterinary care, according to deputies.
Deputies said there were no other animals on the property.
The owner of the horses, Jessica Mier, was served and released on two misdemeanor counts of animal neglect. Deputies said she has surrendered the seized horses to the sheriff’s office.
