Colorado Springs police were able to help a man after he believed his daughter had been kidnapped and held for ransom.
According to Lt. Velasquez with CSPD, a man entered a bank around 2 p.m. Monday, and while on the phone, he handed the teller a note asking her to call the police since his daughter had been kidnapped.
The customer informed the teller the kidnappers were on the phone with him at the time.
When officers arrived, the customer would not disconnect the call. As the investigation unfolded, police determined the father was being scammed, and the daughter was safe at her home studying for a college exam.
Police said the father had already made multiple transactions to an address in Mexico City that could not be canceled.
