The Colorado Springs Police Department is asking for the public’s help in a homicide investigation where an Army captain died.
According to police, the victim was active duty U.S. Army Captain Daniel Chamberlain Lehman, 3rd Armored Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division. Captain Lehman was a graduate of West Point Academy and stationed at Fort Carson.

According to a spokesperson with Fort Carson, Captain Lehman joined the army in May of 20122 and was stationed at Fort Carson in August of 2016. The investigation has revealed that Captain Lehman was shot near the intersection of South Nevada Avenue and Costilla Street. The shooting happened between 1:55 a.m. and 2:00 a.m. on Saturday.
During his time in the army, Lehman was deployed to Afghanistan for four months. he received the following award: Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Joint Service Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Afghanistan Campaign Medal, Global War on Terrorism, Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Overseas Service Ribbon, NATO Medal, and the Air Assault Badge.

Our greatest hope remains that the ongoing investigation provides answers, closure, and eventually eases the tremendous pain those closest to him feel at this time.”
