Court documents say a heated argument led to a shooting that left one man dead near the UCCS campus.

According to the affidavit, 22-year-old Micahi Hughes and 18-year-old Jordan Coleman were driving around Garden of the Gods Park on Wednesday night. Hughes and Coleman were with two other people, including Myles Williams and Hughes’ girlfriend Christina McMillan. Coleman and Hughes got into an argument over Coleman allegedly flirting with McMillan, according to the affidavit.

McMillan told officers all three men were drinking, and the argument became loud. Eventually, the group pulled over near the UCCS Family Development Center.

Coleman and Hughes got out of the car. McMillan said Coleman was shoving Hughes while yelling at him, prompting Hughes to pull out a semi-automatic pistol and shoot Coleman.

McMillan and Williams took Coleman to Penrose-Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Hours later, police found Hughes hiding near the scene.

Hughes is being held without bond on first-degree murder charges.
