A caregiver at a Prowers County group home is accused of sexually assaulting a disabled resident multiple times over 11 months, according to the Colorado Attorney General’s Office.

The office said Daniel Lira was previously employed as a caregiver at a group home operated by Southeastern Developmental Services in Lamar. He is accused of repeatedly sexually assaulting a resident who had cerebral palsy and used a wheelchair. The office said the assaults happened between January and November 2018.

The Baca County Sheriff’s Office and Springfield Police Department arrested Lira on Friday. He is being held without bond on charges of sexual assault of an at-risk adult, unlawful sexual contact of an at-risk adult, and indecent exposure.

The case was investigated by the Colorado Medicaid Fraud Control Unit, the Prowers County Sheriff’s Office, and Adult Protective Services.
