PUEBLO, Colo. — Authorities are investigating after a man was killed in an officer-involved shooting Monday in Colorado City.
According to the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office, a man was shot in a home in the 2900 block of Applewood Drive, near Blue Spruce Drive and Highway 165. He died at the scene.
On Wednesday the Pueblo County Coroner confirmed the man killed was 66-year-old Dennis Flowers, the lone suspect in the August 16 robbery of the Ent Credit Union in Rye.

The officers involved have been identified as Detective Chuck Roldan, a 20-year veteran of the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Office and Deputy Charles McWhorter, who has been with the Sheriff’s Office for nearly four years. Both deputies were not injured and have been placed on paid administrative leave.
An investigation has revealed Roldan and McWhorter were responding to a tip after receiving information that Flowers was possibly in the home on Applewood Drive. When deputies arrived, one of the home’s residents confirmed Flowers was inside. Flowers was found in a bedroom and when deputies asked him several times to surrender, Flowers pulled out a handgun and fired at the deputies, according to authorities. The deputies fired back and fatally shot Flowers.
The investigation is continuing.
